Finding the balance in life?
I couldn’t help but notice this new button with a round, red thing on the top bar above when on the Create New Post page. It turned out to be an add poll button, oooh. So to test out this function, I’m adding a poll here that I hope will gather some response yea?
It’s been a month plus since I’ve came here, I’ve been to Pavilion once, last week. And surprise surprise, I did not get any J.Co Donuts. Yes, Wen Qi went to Pavilion and did not get any donuts. Shock. Horror. What I did have was a meal at Carl’s Jr though.. Hehe. And while at the top floor of Pavilion, I took a few photos while my camera peeked precariously over the railing to get the shots. This is one of them…
I like how they layout the escalators at Pavilion in such a way that you don’t have to turn one whole round to get to the escalator to the next level. Perks of having lots of space.
I didn’t get J.Co Donuts, but this week I got to have Beard Papa’s cream puff and coronette(spelling?). The vanilla cream is just mmmmm. The coronette has a thin, flaky pastry and is dusted with icing sugar, which makes it “crunchy” and a bit sweet on the outside and creamy and vanilla-y on the inside. Nice. The cream puff is equally good too, with it’s light puffy pastry and the cream inside is seriously a lot, it oozes out with every bite.
Oh and I just came back from the nicest Chinese meal I’ve had this week. I love the specialty fish dish they have there, it’s deep fried and has a buttery spicy sauce. Sinful. And the dishes are reasonably priced too. The food alone cost RM39 for the 4 of us.
To those who were wondering how can I just eat eat eat and not gain weight, I exercise too ok… Though I think I probably have put on some weight, can’t be too sure about that, no weighing scale here. I’ve gone swimming the day before and today too. Today’s swim was good, I’ve not swam that much in a long time, it felt good. Though I’ve got to work on my technique and stamina, really can’t swim long distance in one stretch.
And yesterday, the dance club had a free trial lesson for yoga, and my friends and I went for it out of curiosity. It was more exhausting than I thought it would be. I thought yoga’s supposed to be calming. There certainly was a lot of stretching and bending and balancing involved. The yoga instructor demonstrated all sorts of crazy poses like standing on his head using just his forearms as balance, and looking like it was the most natural thing to be doing ever, standing on ones head. And contorting into all sorts of unimaginable ways. Of course the motions we did were easier but yet still struggling for me, never had to move my body in those positions before. Like… squating on tip-toe while balancing my fingers on the ground, then putting one foot on my thigh, then taking my hands off the floor while maintaining my balance. Or the “lotus position”, sitting cross-legged with both feet on your thighs, then stretching your arms around your back to grab your foot. Wah, sounds complicated enough for me trying to explain it, try actually doing it. Ouch. But some of the stretching was good, calming, inhale… exhale.. Just not too keen on the spiritual aspect of yoga and all that. Dance class is offering lessons for Latin Dance, Hip-hop and Belly dance too though. Hmmm
Oh and my mum would be happy to know that there’s a organic shop in Semenyih which is actually quite well stocked. Hehe. Probably hopes with that I can buy organic food and eat healthier. Well, I got some organic noodles today. That’s a start, right?
Long weekend coming up, which would have been even longer if it were not for the LAN class which takes up my whole Saturday. If not for that, I’d have Friday afternoon till Monday, which is Deepavali, free. Heh.
But ok, end on a bright note yea? Here’s a few things to look forward to in the coming weeks:
- Music room will be open sometime soon I hope. Best part is, the clavinova is fixed! Yay!
- Deepavali holiday, outing/plan?
- Er.. first time I’m leading at Christian Fellowship’s cell group. Not so sure if I’m looking forward to this or terrified
- Me Birthday, in one month plus’ time

Fattening Weekend
Last weekend was fattening, very fattening. And it all started with a trip down to MidValley on Saturday afternoon…
After coming out from a place like Semenyih, stepping into the Gardens is a very Mmmm moment. The slightly dimmed lightings, the cooling air-conditioning, the absence of crowds and prospects of good food was very nice indeed. Remember last month I went to Pastis for their monthly cake promotion of Carrot Cream Cheese cake? Well, this month’s cake promotion is Moist Chocolate Cake at half price. I’ve got to say, this is one of the few places where the food in the menu looks just as good or even better in real life. The cake was moist, warm, chocolatey and everything it should be. Sam and Grace had the lychee coolers from Juiceworks but I opted out, it was a chilly day.
Then after a lot of walking and shopping, for what I can’t remember already, it was dinner time. Yea, you know somebody lives for food when she remembers the meals but not the in-betweens. Heh. Despite the many many choices of food at Midvalley (Carls Junior! Japanese! Tony Roma’s!), we settled for McD because somebody wanted to try out their fish McDippers. But somehow I ended up eating the most because I just had the strangest craving for a chicken foldover when I stepped into McD and I ended up ordering a set.
Oh, now bits of the shopping trip are surfacing in my memory. Zara has such lovely shoes this season! The way they layout their shoes is like making you go on a treasure hunt, each turn and you find a row of shoes under a rack of clothes. And I love all the autumn colours in the shops, purple, grey, brown…. Ok, bimbo mode end, continuing with food talk…
On Sunday afternoon, we decided to just stay in and cook lunch. This is our first attempt at making “Carbonara” style pasta with no canned sauce! We had pretty much all the ingredients except cream. Instead we just used shell pasta, cheese, oyster mushrooms, 2 egg yolks, mixed herbs, and garlic. Surprisingly, it turned out pretty nice. Very rich and filling.
That night, we ended up going to Kajang for satay, on “somebody who started working”s treat. And there were also pineapple tarts before the journey to Kajang began, which were super nice. The satay place we went to is a pretty popular one, the name of which I can’t remember now but it has a yellow-coloured sign. The place we went to was the main branch, with two levels and plenty of seating area. The satay place is so big they have a “stall” each for the satay itself, the sauce to go along with it, the noodle/rice dishes, and the drinks. Take a stick of satay with chunky chunks of beef/chicken on it, dip into the peanuty sauce provided with chili to taste. Mmm.. Repeat, in my case, 8 times. Hehe.
I had some greens too, cucumber chunks count right. And there were some carbs in the form of ketupat.
As if all that food wasn’t enough, to round up the weekend and Sunday night, the final blow was Baskin Robbins. A pint of two flavours: Pistachio Almond and Pralines & Creams to be exact, shared among the 6 of us. It all finished all too fast. Hehe.
Thus ended my fattening weekend. *Looks down at stomach, frowns*
